WE CREATE WORLDS FOR PEOPLE TO RETURN TO
For close to 100-years, SF Studios has been the leading film and television company in the Nordics, producing and nurturing some of the best-known productions and creative talents in Nordic History.
Our expertise lies in producing and co-producing popular and well-crafted film and television content that appeal to broad audiences. SF Studios Production is focused on the Danish and Swedish language markets, and is currently also expanding through the development of a number of international films in English.
SF Studios Production in Sweden began in 1919 and has had a long and proud history in both film and TV including the films of Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo and Ingmar Bergman, and the TV productions of many of Astrid Lindgren’s best known works.
In 2013, SF Studios Production's capabilities were further strengthened by the acquisition of Tre Vänner, a writer led production company founded in 1995 by screenwriters Mikael Hjorth, Johan Kindblom and Tomas Tivemark.
In recent years, the combination of SF Studios and Tre Vänner has been responsible for film productions such as the Easy Money-trilogy, Bamse and the city of Thieves and A Man Called Ove (one of the most viewed films in Sweden of all time), as well as TV-series such as Wallander and Svensson Svensson.
SF Studios Production in Denmark has been making film and television since 2005. For longer than two decades, our proud history include successes such as Pernille Rose Grønkjær’s documentary The Monastery, Mads Matthiesen’s debut feature Teddy Bear, Niels Gråbøl’s feature film The Gift as well as the feature films Marie Krøyer and Silent Heart by Palme d’Or and Academy-winner Bille August.
In recent years SF Studios Production in Denmark has been particularly strong in television, producing three seasons of the comedy series Rita, one season of the ground-breaking crime series Norskov as well as co-producing three seasons of Seaside Hotel, one of the most popular shows in Danish TV history.
SF Studios Production is currently in the process of expanding into English language films to reach a broader international audience. We are producing films in the thriller genre based on either Scandinavian stories and/or with top Scandinavian talent behind the camera.
We are currently developing projects with talents such as Daniel Espinosa (Child 44, Safe House), Babak Najafi (London Has Fallen, Easy Money II), the Cannes, Berlin and Sundance winning director Jens Jonsson (Easy Money III) and writers like Hagai Levi (The Affair, In Treatment) and Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane).
